In discussion with More Than Moms’ Annabel Lawee

Annabel Lawee is an entrepreneur, career coach, and mom of two based in Los Angeles. She was the founder of Breeze, an airport-focused ghost kitchen backed by Delta Air Lines, which she built and successfully exited. Today, she coaches women and moms through career and identity transitions, supporting them in building lives and careers they genuinely want — not ones they’ve simply outgrown.
She’s also the co-founder of More Than Moms, a platform, podcast, and community for ambitious women who want to embrace identities beyond just “mom.”
What is More Than Moms?
More Than Moms is a platform designed to help women feel less alone in the identity shifts that come with motherhood. It’s a space for moms who still want to grow personally and professionally, while craving honest conversations and authentic connection along the way.
How did it come about?
My co-founder and I were two Canadian moms who moved to LA without much of a community. What began as hosting small gatherings for like-minded moms quickly grew into a community of 85+ moms in LA, alongside a larger Instagram community of women reconnecting with who they are in motherhood.
How are you bringing the mom community together in LA?
We create intentional in-person experiences — from dinners and wellness events to founder conversations and community gatherings — all designed to foster authentic relationships and help women feel seen, supported, and inspired.
Is it invite-only?
The community is curated through referrals and an application process to keep its intimate nature.
In addition to the IRL community, what else do you do within More Than Moms?
Alongside the in-person community, we coach moms virtually through The Next Chapter — a group coaching experience for those navigating identity shifts and figuring out what’s next personally and professionally. We also have a podcast and Instagram, where we open up honest conversations around motherhood, ambition, relationships, and self-growth.
What’s your favorite thing about being a mom?
The quiet, ordinary moments — sitting on the floor with my kids in the middle of a messy house, nothing special happening, and realizing I’m exactly where I want to be.
